The Sandy Bridge-E CPUs which are said to be the 3rd generation CORE processors are said to be released in a few months time, mostly in start of 2012. These processors are similar to the past generation processors. The 3960x similar to the Gulftown and 3820 is like 2600k. The large cache with high Memory speeds would make it faster.| Processor | Base Clock | Max. Turbo Clock | Cores / Threads | L3 Cache | Memory | Interface | TDP |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Core i7-3960X *Unlocked | 3.3 GHz | 3.9 GHz | 6/12 | 15 MB | 4-channel DDR3-1600 | LGA 2011 | 130 W |
| Core i7-3930K *Unlocked | 3.2 GHz | 3.8 GHz | 6/12 | 12 MB | 4-channel DDR3-1600 | LGA 2011 | 130 W |
| Core i7-3820 *Partially Unlocked | 3.6 GHz | 3.9 GHz | 4/8 | 10 MB | 4-channel DDR3-1600 | LGA 2011 | 130 W |
Coming to the naming convention, as these are Intel's third generation CPUs therefore the numbers start from 3, the next 3 digits are the actual processor number example underlined 3960x.
Similar is for the rest of the processors, seeing the 960 number I feel that they will even launch a CPU like 990x i.e 3990x, now that is a real cool number.
We will soon provide more info about this, if you have any feed backs then you can mail us at technocial@gmail.com or comment below.
